NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE TOP PICKS

I Have Thoughts…

In case you’ve been living under a rock, or you’re just simply not a Nordstrom shopper, you know the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is basically here. I’ve gotten a sneak peak through my credit card access, so I scoured the site to create a list of the best of the best from the sale. To be honest, there wasn’t a ton of excitement in this year’s sale. And you likely have Covid-19 to thank for that, as production overseas has been slow and caused major order delays, frustrating retailers across the globe. However, there were a few gems that I think you should consider as they are key staple pieces that are essential for an everyday wardrobe.

Traditionally when I shop the sale, I usually look for items that I need to restock or replace, or key staple items that I know I would wear on a weekly basis. So you will see items such as leather jackets and denim on the list because either the fit, or the cut of these items are modern and wildly popular. Also, it’s nice to grab it now while it’s on sale, for you likely won’t see that price again until the holidays. The impact of the pandemic is new territory for retailers as well, so we could see anything from product shortages because of production challenges, or product overstocks because of a struggling economy. It’s simply unknown. So whenever you are making a shopping decision, keep all of this in mind. This list was specifically curated for the shopper that needs to update her wardrobe but doesn’t know where to begin. It’s also useful for the fashion girl who doesn’t need much updating, but she needs to re-up on a few key core pieces.

If you’re not familiar with the Nordstrom sale, I should inform you that they tier access to the sale based on historical spending levels. The more you spend at their store on a yearly basis, the earlier the access you will have to their yearly sale. The specific details of the sale are listed below and the items shown are clickable and takes you directly to the site. Let me know in the comments which items you’re going to be adding to your cart. Happy Shopping!

And the winners…excuse me sale dates are…..

August 4

Early access begins for members with “Icon” status. You literally have to spend an ungodly amount in a calendar year. You’ll know it if you have it. Just know that today is August 4th and I do not have access to this sale.

August 7

Early access begins for members with “Ambassador” status. Achieved by being not quite baller status, but likely shopaholic status. Nope. Won’t have access on the 7th either.

August 10

Early access beings for members with “Influencer” status. If you have a card and you spend about $150 a month at Nordstrom, congratulations, your name has been called.

August 13

Early access for members with “Insider” status. This is basically anyone with a Nordstrom credit card.

August 19

Finally! The sales is now open to the public! Classism much Nordy?

Okay, now let’s shop!

The Categories: Leather Jacket

I’ve linked quite a few that I think are worth the money simply because a leather jacket, particularly in warmer climates is simply a must have. It’s the perfect layering piece when it’s chilly outside and you really don’t need an overcoat. However, it’s also versatile enough to wear over a chunky sweater if it does get really cool. In all styles, I would size up 1 or 2 sizes, for that slightly over sized fit. An over sized leather jacket just looks cool, period. And it also gives you some extra room to layer over a heavier top if necessary. There is a white leather jacket that I linked that I’m seriously contemplating adding to my cart. White leather is unique, especially for fall. It also provides a nice contrast against darker colors which can be a really dope look.

The Categories: Overcoat

I only have one coat on this list and I think that’s enough. I’m sure everyone reading this has several coats, but most people probably don’t have a nice nice wool camel colored coat. It’s the perfect 2nd option to have in your wardrobe and allows you to create different looks than the typical black coat. It’s still a neutral, so it will still look good layered over black, brown or even jewel tones.

The Categories: The Blazer

I believe that every woman needs at least 2 blazers in her closet, a simple black blazer and a checkered blazer. Over the past couple of years, the over sized checkered blazer has become the new “it” blazer as it gives a sophisticated, yet updated look paired with high waist straight or skinny jeans. Pair with jewel tones, like an emerald green or keep it neutral with browns and white undershirts. I also think this is a cool look to pair over a dark colored graphic t-shirt. The possibilities are endless. The second blazer linked is a classic cut black blazer. Most people own at least one black blazer in their wardrobe, but if you’re in the market for one, I would opt for the one I linked below. It’s a more fitted style, but the classic cut makes it more versatile than over sized blazers. This can be dressed up or down, with the change of the footwear, and it will most definitely withstand any trend changes. I own about 6 black blazers, but I always keep my classic cut blazers for years.

The Categories: Pants

Levi’s ribcage jeans are one of my favorite jeans of the moment and they are included in this year’s sale! They are called “ribcage” because they are so high waist, that they literally reach your ribcage. I absolutely love them. I already own this exact pair, otherwise these will definitely be in my cart. The other tried and true staple you need are the Spanx faux leather pants. I remember when I first saw this style (it was on a Nordstrom sales associate in Portland), I had to have them. However, the $100 price point was prohibitive, as I could not fathom spending that much on a pair of leggings. I did manage to get them in the sale on Black Friday weekend, and Nordstrom is running the same sale. Add to cart and thank me later.

The Categories: Sweaters

If you watched my latest YT video (If you haven’t, then shame on you), you know that I have been quite bored with sweaters outside of sweater sets. However, I did find one option that was giving me my favorite puffy sleeve action and I thought the price was too good to pass up. I also linked a sweater dress, a trend that started late last year into early 2020. This is a trend that is just getting started. A form fitting sweater dress in either a basic or a fun color will be all over your IG feeds in the fall. It’s such an easy thing to wear and it gives you an opportunity to show off those killer ankle boots you can’t wait to pull out. Pair under your…..wait for it……….leather jacket, and you’re instantly chic with minimal effort.

The Categories: Shoes

Everyone should really invest in a pair of genuine leather ankle boots because faux leather is just not good quality in most cases. If you like them and wear them often, more than likely, they won’t last past one season of wear. Black leather shoes, especially boots and ankle boots, have a way of aging quite nicely over the years. The style I picked is modern, yet classic, so they won’t be outdated in a couple of years. They’ll wear out long before they date, as ankle boots aren’t going anywhere any time soon. I also picked a few pair of white sneakers, including the oh so hot brand Veja. Those are going to sell out fast, so add these to your cart immediately and check out. I also linked a classic pair of White Adidas sneakers that I own so I can personally vouch for. They are super comfortable and easy to pair with just about any everyday daytime look.

The Categories: Other

I also linked a few interesting bags and some beauty accessories that I think are worth snagging, such as the beauty blenders (might as well re-up on sale) and the washable make up pads I’ve been meaning to try but didn’t want to pay full price. Now for the moment you’ve been waiting for, I present to you “THE LIST”.
