Houndstooth is having a moment

I love houndstooth. It’s such a classic print that never goes out of style. I’m also loving the fact that it’s been really popular with high street retailers this season. You can even find some great pieces from Target’s Who What Wear collection. I snagged the oversized cardigan a few months ago that is still available in most stores. I will link it below. I initially started obsessing over the Zara houndstooth wrap overcoat. However, I eventually opted for the ASOS coat, which was about half price of the Zara coat on sale and similar if not better quality. Houndstooth is traditionally a staple on the sales floor in the form of a coat or a classic blazer every fall or winter season. But now we’re starting to see this print in sweaters, cotton knits and even leggings. It’s a complete vibe. Fortunately for you, I’ve been shopping this trend heavy and I’ve found some solid pieces you can easily work into your wardrobe for mere pennies. Well, not quite pennies, but definitely affordable. Keep scrolling to see how I’ve styled this trend.

I’ve layered houndstooth on houndstooth with the help of an overcoat I picked up from ASOS. The turtleneck is from H&M and it’s only $10. That’s right. TEN DOLLARS! It’s a fitted top, so I wanted to make sure that I paired it with a bottom that had some volume. The jeans were coped on clearance, so I will link a close alternative if I can’t find it online. I finished the look with gold boots I got in the Zara sale. These are no longer available, but this can be paired with a boot or bootie in any color, including a print. I chose the gold because I thought the contrast against the sea of black and white gives the look some extra pop.

Now that you can see the jewelry, just notice that I accessorized with gold jewelry to play off the gold boots. If you pair this look with a black or white bootie, feel free to play around with colored jewelry, which also plays well with black and white. The gold necklace was probably from Forever 21 or H&M. It was relatively inexpensive and under $10. I will link alternatives below. The earrings are from Target’s Sugar Fix brand. They are old, but I will link alternatives for these below as well.
